Getting to know me.

I found a cute little blog from Tasmania today Ladybugg Love and there is a great post about a 50's cafe in Deloraine. Wish it was close, we'd go straight away! There is a question and answers list and thought it would be cute to post it and pass it on.

Alex at Redcliffe beach we will go today.

Getting to Know Me

1. Make a list of 5 things that you can see without getting up......
Hee hee, my computer (Apple) printer, sewing machines, ironing board, sewing table and all my uni stuff I should be doing instead. (It's Easter Sunday so I'm giving myself a break)

 2. How do you style your hair?
I wouldn't call it styled....
I either use a clip or one of those claw things that open and close (what are they called?) and put it up but I am fussy and only use the clips that are made in France as the other cheap one tear at my hair.

 3. What are you wearing now?
PJ's I bought when I was in Cyprus in 2009

 4. What are your top five favourite TV shows?
 - Sex & the City - Seinfeld - Q &; A (Australian show on ABC that has guests on and talk political and social issues) - Grey's Anatomy (A lot of my friends are Doctors and I've got to say I haven't seen many McDreamys around!

 5. What do you hear right now?
A plane that went past and the tv from my son watching.

 6. Who was the last person you hugged?
Said son - 8 years old in 16 days!

 7. What did you have for lunch?
What will we have for lunch as it's only 9.57am - something out today.

8. What did you do today?
Planning on going to Redcliffe to swim and ride out bicycles and just be together.

 9. Dog person or cat person?
Dog - but don't have one - don't have the time to look after one.

 10. If you had to change your name, what would you change it to?
My name is too cool to change and I have a book with my name in print so what would I do with the book. In Greek my first name means 'wisdom' and my surname means 'big city'. See if you can work it out - put it in the comments

 11. What was the last thing that you bought?
Other than grocery shopping a pair of sandals that are sparkly and broke the 2nd time I wore them but after taking them back I offered them $5 because the beads were glass and I wanted them! See a previous post.

 12. If you could afford to go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Travelling has always been a priority in my life and I have travelled a lot but I haven't been to Africa, or Antarctica or Russia or the Scandinavian countries except for Denmark. I'd like to go to all those but not in that order.

 13. Where do you see yourself in five years?
Using the skills and knowledge from this degree I'm doing at the moment. Need to get my Superannuation up so I can retire!

 14. Where's your birthmark?
Top of my right leg - a tiny spot.

 15. What are you doing this weekend?
Studying and being with my son.

 16. If you could play any musical instrument, which one would you play?
I have always wanted to play the piano and now thanks to Freecycle we have one but it's my son who is learning. When I finish uni I'd like to take it up!

 17. How tired are you?
This question is made for me - I'm always tired. I am not a good sleeper and never have been but I manage most times.

 18. What are you plans for the rest of the day?
 See above Q. 8

 19. What's your drink?
I'm not a big drinks person - I drink water, coffee and very limited amounts of champagne, gin (Bombay) and tonic and white wine.

 20. If you could buy anything, for no reason, with no budget, what would you buy?
A new car - a Ferrari in yellow with white leather interior - I haven't thought about this before you can see! Or/and a '57 convertible Chevy in red and white.

Because 21 is my favourite number I'm adding my own question.

21. If you had unlimited funds for philanthropy where would it be donated or used?
I have often thought about this. I would give money to set up orphanages in Africa for aids children and try to give them the best life possible. I would also like to set up a charitable organisation to help young single mothers learn to embrace where they are at the moment with their children and to get them into a best possible physical situation. Children are our future really and by nurturing them and letting them be kids when they are supposed to be can we have adults that are satisfied and happy to give.

Okay, you're turn, either copy & paste questions & your answers into the comment section or add it to your own blog & leave a link here. It would be nice to get to know people a little. Does this get you to know me - I'm not sure but I don't have the time can't be bothered to write out other questions.

Yes LinB! That's right! Ha ha!
Send me your address and I'll send you a prize! Don't know what but it may take a while as I have exams at the moment but it will come!

Hurray! No need to send a prize: the recognition is more than enough for me. The Greeks are like the Scots in that they sailed all over the world and stuck wherever they landed. Some of them washed up here many decades ago. I'll wander down to the old diner in my central North Carolina town and have a bowl of avgolemono soup to celebrate.

The saddest dress, then a few more.

Well hello. It's been a while. It was 8 months from the last post to the previous one to that and it's a bit longer this time. The last day I wrote was 10 Jul 2021. On 12 July my son and I were finally seeing Tim Minchin  after booking it before we went to Europe at the end of 2019. It was going to be April 2020, but changed a few times and although it was a school night (year 12 for Alex) we went for dinner and sat in the show. My Mum had gone to hospital that morning and my sister was still at the hospital with her. Just after interval I got a message on my phone, "get to the hospital now". So we raced out and to the hospital where. although it was a lockdown and no visitors allowed, all 10 of us were allowed to see Mum as she was end of life. I won't go into the whole thing but Mum didn't die that night, but because of lockdown, we were not allowed to go and see her until a week and a half later when we were allowed just to discuss palliative care. Bubble O'Bill: take 2; bikinis

With some time at home, I've been sewing a bit lately and I finally had time to make the bikinis for my son's girlfriend for her birthday. I cut them out in February from some scrap fabric my friend gave me. I made my son some swimmers   and I see someone has some for sale if you feel you are missing out 😆.   I had to piece together the bikinis as I had nearly nothing left over. I made the top back and the briefs from the free Madelynne Noelle pattern and the front top from another Madelynne pattern I can't find a link for it but was Mallory Lane. It's a basic top with scrappy back. If anyone wants it I have the download. Looks like it's not available any more.  All this piecing and mixing was purely from fabric limitations. The other fabric I mixed it with was ombre from aqua blue to purple and matched well. I asked Liv if she wanted a frill down the centre front to break up the print as I wasn't sure she would, but she loved the idea, so on the went. She tr

Emergency Rashie KS2600

I go to aqua aerobics 3 or 4 times a week and I like to wear a rashie as it's outdoor and it's a bit warmer in the (not very cold usually but really warm this) winter, and I can't reach the spots for sunscreen. In Brisbane you must wear sunscreen every day even in winter as we have the highest skin cancer rates in the world and I don't want to be any more wrinkly than I am! Anyway, I went to the Gold Coast to see my friend for a few days and I left my rashie at her place and I she wouldn't get to Brisbane for a few days so I pulled out KS 2600. I saw this pattern listed on a pattern site and then became obsessed with it till I got it but this is my first chance to try it. Isn't it lovely! I wanted to test it to see how the fit was. I've made McCall's 7417 a few times but it's long between the shoulder and the arm for me and even though I have made a few it wasn't ever a great fit but it is a quick sew. The pants on the McCall's is a good fit
