McCall's 7608 for Brisbane Spoolette's High Tea

Well it's that time of year again. Brisbane Spoolette's High Tea - it is usually on around my birthday date so it's a great double excuse for a nice outfit and a cocktail.  I chose to make McCall's 7608. Originally it was View D but with the shorter legs, but I forgot and cut out the long legs so I stuck with it as I figured if I don't like them I'll chop them again. As it was I cut off about 10cm from the bottom and that was just enough. Now this pattern was one of the ones that my friend brought back from the States for me when she was living there (they are living in Europe now). So I would give her a list of wannabe patterns and she would get what she could in the $1 and $2 sales. When I saw this one, I was "huh? what was I thinking". Plus it takes a lot of fabric and I usually buy fabric I love and then match it, so it's usually 2-3 metres only so when I found this fabulous hot pink fabric at the Maroochydore 2nd hand shop and it was 4 met...

Part 2 Catch Up - sorry another long one.

So, here's part 2 of the catch up of what I've made. Before I go on though, I just want to say I can't post any comments on most blogs! I don't know why so even though I want to most blogs are not showing my user name or whatever it is. Just so you know. If anyone knows why please let me know. Now I made another of this Vena Cava dress, Vogue 1228 with polyester crepe like chiffon that I got from one of the Brisbane Spoolette meet ups a couple of years ago. It's got that great print and the big circles are flocked.  I really love the square neckline. I use the same slip that I wear with  the other one I made. This is the front. I took a deeper pleat at the front and back than I did on the last one and the fit is a little better. It's a bit shorter. As with both dresses I didn't add the sleeve extensions. My arms are way shorter than the model's and this is long enough for me.  And side view. Sorry work bathroom pics.. it seems like it ...

The Brisbane Spoolette's High Tea

Wow! The delightful  Busy Lizzie in Brizzie  organised the third Brisbane Spoolettes for a High Tea at the Brisbane Marriott again. This time there were so many of us, we had a private event room. It was terrifically beautiful with big fuchsia and tangerine sashes on the chairs... I originally walked past this room because I thought it was for a wedding but heck, we are such a gorgeous crowd, why shouldn't we have a terrific room! Well done Lizzy - this was a great bonus plus I'm sure the hotel prefers us keeping the squeals in a private room! Counting the number in the photo above, there are 35 of us here, and there were a few who couldn't make it. Quite a (beautifully dressed) crowd wouldn't you say? There were people from far and wide.  As usual I am too busy talking to take too many photos; too busy talking and I tried to talk to as many people as possible but I know I missed chatting to probably half the people there :( There was great pattern and fabric swa...
