Bubble O' Bill

My friend gave me a box of scraps, actually there are a lot of scraps of some amazing fabric and there was some of this   Bubble O' Bill  sports fabric. I had just enough to make Alex some togs, using the Jalie 3242 undies pattern I'd used before . It had been a while and Alex was in desperate need for togs. I also cut out a pair of Batman ones too but I don't have a photo yet. I'll edit when I do.  I had a bit more of both the Bubble O'Bill and Batman fabric to cut out a pair of togs for his girlfriend but I haven't sewn them up yet. I actually haven't been able to Tetris out the bottoms and looking for maybe a fabric to match with it.  Alex was appalled when I suggested they wear them together... "are you serious Mum!"

Winter sewing.

Ok so a quick one with lots of photos. I made this Simplicity 8338 workout top out of some light weight active wear remnant from Lincraft. Cut out ages ago and finished it a few weeks ago. It's a nice fit and I like it. I will make some adjustments so that I can tie up the back when I do yoga as downward dog makes it go over my head unless I quickly tuck it into my pants... which I do. Made the back panel with some white mesh I had on hand. So winter sewing because at this stage we are going away to Europe and am busy making stuff to take. Jeans which I think will be too light weight but with tights and a long coat should be ok. I'll see. I started these a few weeks ago but I haven't finished them yet. Didn't have a blue zip on hand but a green one.. no problem. Too long, also no problem; this is a stash pair of jeans. Yay! Have used New Look 6979 for the pants in a heavy wool knit I bought a a fabric stash sale a few months ago. They ...

Jalie 3242 camo togs.

Last Sunday my sister called at 8am and said come over for lunch and the boys can have a swim. Perfect, except I just remembered, I bought lycra from Pitt Trading for swimming togs for Alex but I hadn't made them yet. I go to aqua aerobics every Sunday at 9am so I dragged out my Jalie 3242 pattern, measured Alex and traced a size T. I was going to use  Katherine's (Sew Blooms) tips to change a Jalie into togs for boys  but I have a different pattern so with my limited time, I just went with what I had.  I got them to here before having to go to aqua. I came back at 10.20 and then I finished them off and left the house by 12 noon. I used the coverstitch to do the hems and around the ...middle, but I think this makes them look like undies but I also figured it would keep the seams flat and less aggravating.  I get this great elastic from Trad's ... it's elastic that's about 2.5 cm wide and it has nylon tie through it, which is perfect for boy's t...
